Hi Friends,

I’m using window 7 professional, I want to share a folder in local network with everyone only permission of copy & paste but no body can delete the file except parent user.

Please suggest the steps.

Hi Ajay,

 

Kindly perform below steps to get the result.

--> Right click on the folder and click on Properties.

--> Go to Security Tab, Click on "Edit" and add "Everyone" Group, and select " Read & execute" and "List folder contents" from Permissions list. Click on OK.

--> Now Go to Sharing Tab and select "Advanced Sharing" . Select "Share this folder" option. Provide Share Name. Click on Permission button.

add below Groups and permissions and click on OK.

Everyone -> Read

CREATOR OWNER -> Full Control.

 

Hi Ajay,

 

You want all users to paste the files into shared location which means user must need the modify permission on shared folder. Please follow below steps.

 

1. Create two security Groups.

   Group1 - Include all users to whom you want to provide paste (write permission) and restrict to delete.

   Group2 - Include all users to whom you want to provide paste (write permission) and delete permission.

2. provide modify permission on shared folder to group2.

3. Provide Modify permission on shared folder to group1 and then go to advanced permission and selected deny to delete. see the screenshot for more details.

If you are working in WORKGROUP then please do below.

 

1. To UserA provide modify permission on shared folder.

2. To UserB Provide Modify permission on shared folder and then go to advanced permission and selected deny to delete.
